The license plates of Greece are composed of three letters followed by three numbers. Normal vehicles have numbers between 1000 and 9999, while for mopeds over 50cc. the numbers from 1 to 999 are given. The first two letters represent the region to which they belong. 0 The letters are not arranged in alphabetical order as ordered by the “Vienna Road Convention”, but they maintain their order, which is: A, B, E, Z, F, I, K, M, N, O, P, T, Y, X, Y with the exception of B, H, and P.

The first two lines represent the prefectures to which they belong with abbreviations such as: “AB” belongs to Kavala, “AE” to Lasithi, “AI” to Aitolokarnania …

Taxis have red plates with the configuration “L-NNNN” where the “L” is the Letter and the “N” is number. They have an igaul badge that one of the other vehicles, but having their first two letters “TA”.

The vehicles belonging to public services and the armed forces, have their license plates, being for example “AN” for people with reduced mobility in the war, “EA” to the Greek police, “AM” to the agricultural vehicles
